A wedding is not covered. It is built.
Walther Santafé is the name under which Enrique Alvarez-Sala signs his personal work. An architect by training — a graduate, with highest honors, of the Madrid School of Architecture, ETSAM — and a wedding photographer since 2009.
He is the founder of LIVEN, a studio whose structure and working protocol have become a reference for much of contemporary wedding photography in Spain. LIVEN has produced more than three thousand five hundred weddings. Under his personal signature, Walther Santafé accepts ten commissions a year.
His eye was formed in the reading of space: light as material, pause as composition, geometry as a way of seeing. A wedding, for him, is not an archive of moments but a whole body — an emotional architecture — that asks to be understood before it is photographed.
He works from Madrid, and travels anywhere in the world the project deserves it.
I · Reading the place
Before photographing, reading. The light, the geometry, the rhythm of the space. The photography begins hours before the first frame.
II · The frame as pause
Every frame is a decision. Fewer images, better composed; the silence between them is part of the story too.
III · The authored edit
Each wedding is curated as an editorial project. What adds nothing stays out.
